The brotherhood of NOD formed about the same time as the rise of GDI. NOD deemed itself a fighter for the rights of the oppressed. Operating mainly in third-world countries and always opposite GDI forces, the Brotherhood quickly rose to prominence. NOD was masterminded by the charismatic Kane, who used the growing power of the Brotherhood as a platform for his goal of world domination. NOD was funded by the profits resulting from Kane's research into Tiberium. Their growing military power and the promise of a changed world-- made in Kane's image-- brought many of the disaffected under the Brotherhood's banner.
